Invest, Work and live in Mauritius
Non-citizens may apply for an Occupation Permit (OP) which is a combined work and residence permit allowing foreign nationals to reside and work in Mauritius under three specific categories namely:
- Investor including Investor for innovative start-ups
- Professional
- Self-Employed
Investors, entrepreneurs and professionals who choose to invest, work and live in Mauritius require a business visa on their arrival into the country.
Applications for Occupation Permit (OP) should be submitted online through the National E-licensing Portal.
Several new budget measures pertaining to incentives in relation to Occupation Permit have been announced in the 2021/2022 Budget. Some of the salient features are:
- Validity of the OP for Professional being extended from 3 to 10 years; and
- The monthly salary applicable for an occupation permit for professionals in financial services will be brought down to Rs 30,000. However, this will be limited only for fund accounting and compliance services by a company holding a license from the FSC, and the professional will need to have at least 3 years relevant work experience
