The COVID-19 pandemic has forced several nations to rethink their objectives, vision, mission and most importantly to re-engineer the way data is collected, processed, stored and transformed into innovative solutions.

Mauritius has since the early 2000’s when the ICT sector was entrenched in the Mauritian economy, evolved from basic BPO service to now hosting a bustling and vibrant creative and innovative set of R&D oriented, high-tech enterprises.

However, it is important for our local developers of innovative high-tech ICT solutions involving IoT, AI, Blockchain among others to be apprised on the needs of the African market. The lack of “on the ground” intelligence may hamper the progress of the evolving Mauritian ICT hub into the creative lab for the continent.

In light of the above, EDB hosted a Webinar on 26th November 2020 with Côte D’Ivoire in view of facilitating interregional innovation. The webinar provided an in-depth overview of the evolution of the digital and innovation ecosystem from both the Mauritian and Côte D’Ivoire perspective and also highlighted the various business possibilities available for companies in both countries.

It also served as an excellent platform for selected local companies to showcase their local innovative solutions and capabilities while selected start-ups in Cote d’Ivoire shared their challenges in their respective domestic markets with real issues and challenges to be addressed.

The objective is to develop avenues of collaboration and growth between both the Mauritian developers and the young ICT entrepreneurs in Cote D’Ivoire thus allowing both countries to navigate the aftermath of this pandemic with more resilience.  Both countries are well and uniquely placed to develop win-win solutions in a partnership framework by leveraging on their experience and key differentiating capabilities.
