The Bank of Mauritius (Bank) launched on 3 August 2020 a Coin Exchange Campaign with a view to encouraging members of the public to put back into circulation coins in their possession which are lying idle.

The Bank has also enlisted the support of all banks in the country to enable members of the public to deposit their idle coin holdings into their bank accounts or exchange them for banknotes at any branch of a bank. The cooperation of the public is kindly sought to separate their coins, denomination-wise, prior to calling at the counters of banks to ensure the smooth running of the campaign.

The Bank remains committed to improving the quality of banknotes and coins in circulation, maintaining the integrity of our currency and providing an adequate supply of banknotes and coins to satisfy the needs of the public.
