Islamic banking can be carried out in Mauritius either through a window or by operating a full-fledged Islamic bank. 

The Bank of Mauritius has an open mind policy with regards to embracing of technological innovations by banks provided that they are able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the regulator that adequate risk management processes are in place.

A bank can choose to carry out exclusively private banking business or offer private banking services as part of its banking services.
