Following a meeting of the High-Level Committee on the COVID-19 pandemic, The Honourable Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications Minister for Rodrigues, Outer Islands and Territorial Integrity addressed the Nation this evening, Tuesday 9th March 2021.

The Honourable Prime Minister announced a National Lockdown in Mauritius effective as from 06 h 00 on 10th March 2021 until 25th March 2021 in a bid to curb the spread of the COVID-19 cases in Mauritius.  In his address, the Prime Minister made an appeal to all Mauritians to strictly abide and maintain all sanitary protocols.

He recalled for the solidarity of all Mauritians which was exemplary during the first lockdown in March 2020 and appealed for the population to act with the same discipline and vigor shown previously to overcome the crisis.
